Does anyone know of any common faults with the gearboxes. Mine is an 03 plate warrior and when its cold its a complete B****rd to get into 2nd gear unless I leave changing gear til the engine is screaming and 3rd isn't much better. It's still a bit notchy when its warmed up but no where near as bad.

I get that with my 2003 Animal

when it's cold it gives a bit of a prob to get into 2

but try this

when shifting into 2, don't just pull down from 1 or 3

let the shifter slide into N and pause briefly before selecting 2

works best when you don't revv high before shifting

or you can just let the engine idle until the optimal temp is reached (at your expense of diesel)

why dont you try double de clutching ??

i do realise that this is a rather 'retro' action but it was for vehicles with NO sychro on the gear's !#

are you guy's sure you've enough/any gearbox oil in your truck's ??

is there enough movement on the clutch / need sum fluid  Huh

try the obvious first

i'm sure some1 will have some other suggestion's

Thanks for your responses, i've checked the fluid level thats ok, fluid still has some colour so I don't think its that old, having said that she has only done 71K and been getting steadily worse since I've had her (10K in 10 months). Double de clutch doesn't make a lot of difference either. I may try changing the oil incase someone has put the wrong grade in it tho.

Mine was abit clunky going between gears when cold, especially 2nd, but just changed the gearbox oil and it's really smooth now. Might be worth giving it an oil change for what it costs?

Mitsi state:

Hypoid gear oil SAE 75W-90, 75W-85W or 80W conforming to API GL-4

for both the manual gearbox and transfer box  - 2.3 litres in each.

I used 75W-90 in mine. Gearbox is another litre on top of what the manual says, so 3.3l in the gearbox and 2.3l in the transfer case.
