hi all, got myself a 91 strada double cab which im loving, apart from the slight lack of power (had a peugeot 306 and a 3.1 trooper) before hand so am missing the power slightly. done the usual filters, oil etc but no luck. engine has done 240km and still running well. is there a common engine swap for these? must be a diesel swap though!
cheers
Jack

no easy swap as such, you could look at shoving the v6 petrol in it

All I can think of is a the ole 2.8td from a pajero or Shogun,as they were fitted with either the 2.5 4D56 or 2.8 4M40 ......I am guessing then Strada had the 4D56 engine.

fuel pump issues are a simple replace the pumps front seal, affects the 2.5 on veg and bio as well

Yep that and headgaskets but easy enough to sort out.Just get a secondhand 2.8 engine and rebuild it.Do the headgasket and pump seals while your at it.....then you'll know it will be a goodun for a while. Most engine problems are caused by lack of servicing and missuse anyway half the time.

Most of the 2.8's I have seen in Pajero's were mated to an auto box. There were some manuals but they are like rocking horse $hit now.Wouldn't have thought the engine mounts would be much of a problem.Might be worth joining the Mitsubishi Pajero owners forum as well and ask on there. There are a lot who have stripped 2.8's in auto and manual and played about with engines and gearboxes.
