Hi All,

My mate just called me, he's got a 2006 warrior classic shape and some B$^*^$ have lazer cut his cat off lastnight. His insurance are picking it up tomorrow but have told him he probably wont be getting it back.

from what he's said they cut it from by the flex/down pipe somewhere and pretty much to the back box.

As you can all Imaging he's not happy, his truck it mint and really low mileage.

Has any one had and experience with anything like this???

I'm wanting/hoping to get a look under it myself before it goes off to the insurers in the morning, I'm just shocked that it could cause it to be a write off and wondering what other damage they could of caused.

hi, I have heard that a few cars around Newport s wales has had this happen. the reason it could be a right off is due to major parts of the frame/engine/electrical's being cut/hit by the cutter.
it would be worth him getting it checked out himself and if can be repaired buy it back from the insurance company.
hope this helps Brett

He could always buy it back off the insurance company and put another exhaust on it, providing there is no other damage. Even so he could fix the other damage.

If the truck is good and he likes it that is what I would do.

it does sound like the engine or mounts could be damaged, there's a thing in our local paper of a bunch of hilux's having there's stolen within a 3 mile radius yet the police say they don't think there connected, what a joke

I feel gutted for him, I've heard of them being stolen before but didn't realise the damage they leave behind.

Police also said that by the time you could look out your curtains they've done it and gone. Takes them seconds  Cry

My CAT was stolen earlier this year off an 2002 4life. Quoted silly money to replace, so bought the flexi downpipe (from the turbo), a decat pipe and next section before axle from Milners. Less than £180 to get back on the road. Mine was cut off with battery pipe cutter ..... Your mate should be able to get it back from the insurer if repairable

Its still with the insurer waiting on a decision, they lost it for 3 days. even phone and spoke to his missus to ask if they knew what company collected it, what a joke!

The issue isn't just replacing the exhaust, is all the other damage they done with the lazer cutter. He has spoke to one of the guys at the garage that has it now though and is hoping he'll be getting it back.

Apparently they had a sprinter in and not counting the cost of replacing the cat they done 3000 damage to it when they stole the cat.

Can not understand WHY they was carrying that much gear to nick a cat!!!!!! If  something went wrong the cost of losing their gear way out ways the cost of 10 cats. When really 2 adjustable's or sockets does the job and a lot quieter. Sorry for sound like I don't believe it but it does sound very dodgy or very very professional !!!!!!!
