Hi,

I have a 2007 new shape automatic diesel, 6 months ago it just randomly started cutting out, you would be driving along no problem, no unusual noise and then nothing as though you just switched off the engine, as its an automatic you have to  come to a complete stop select park or neutral and then turn the key and it starts first time, off you go sometimes 10 yards sometimes 10 miles before it happens again.
Took it to a local garage who said it was a fuel injector problem, replaced said fuel injector (1) and all was fine apart from me being 600 euros lighter ...... As I said that was 6 months ago, 3 weeks ago same problem occured, so I thought this time I would send to the garage I brought it from hopefully they would fix it and be a bit cheaper, so they take a look run the diagnostics machine on it which shows a fuel  problem and say that they think it is the injector pump but not 100% sure so will have to send off the injector pump and the injectors to a specialist in Thessaloniki who can test the pump and the injectors , so a week later they get the now referbed pump back and the injectors which tested fine and again a further 700 euros lighter.
So had the truck back and all was good for a week now the exact same problem has occurred again, its cutting out at about 5-10 times within a 5 mile journey, if I select low (1st gear) and keep the revs up to between 2.5 /3.5 thou and then go into 2nd keeping the revs at about the same it does not cut out, but that's hard to do around here with the tourist traffic and narrow roads,  it also tends not to cut out from cold for the first 10 mins, and never cuts out on tickover, it does not make any difference if I am going up hill ( very steep hills over here ) or going down, the garage have said that they have put a new fuel pump solenoid on as well,so any help would be gratefully received ?

In the UK, you could get a Ralliart injector driver module to raise the power from 134 to 167 bhp and this was fitted by Mitsubishi UK. Check to see if you have one of those or any other similar 'performance module' and if so, remove it and see what happens then.

Most aftermarket ones just plug into the sensor at the end of the common rail. From descriptions of other forum users, the Ralliart one is housed next to the battery.

 I realise that you have a 'refurbed dieselpump'' but your symptoms are very much like the problems caused by the Suction Control valve which is fitted to the rear nearside of the diesel pump, normally around 40-70 in uk and about 20 minutes to fit it. It rarly shows as a fault on the diagnosis usually showing fuel pressure fault in the common rail or the fuel pressure sensors but the pressure fault is usually caused by the SCV.

 It would be possible to refurb the diesel pump without removing the SCV and even if removed it would probably look quite normal as the usual fault is just a sticking tiny piston within it which returns to normal position when engine stops.

Not sure what I'm looking at o be honest does anyone have a photo ? the pickup was originally a German import into Greece if that makes any difference.

Spoke to the gaargre today and they siad they have replaced the SCV when you look it does look new so I guess they have, anything else I can look out for ?
