You could be low on coolant, air lock, Water pump giving up, blockage in cooling system, the reason it goes cold is no hot water getting into heater matrix

Is it a heater or is it climate control? Climate control has sensors and sometimes if they a relaying the wrong information it can mess things up

Climate control usually sets the temperature. Iím not sure what system is on the later L200ís but my car has 3 independant ones, back and two sides at the front so there are sensors at each one. A common mistake people make is that there is something wrong at the source when it can be the sensor sending the wrong information.

You could try plugging it in to diagnostics and look for faults

Plugged in code reader and normal running temp is fine and no stored codes

Where are the climate control sensors.
