hello S.Y. long time no spk.
my truck has had a ' full sevice' since we last spoke, ive done it myself so it only cost about £450 that includes head skimmed , valves reground , full clean of all the induction side ( oven cleaner is wonderful stuff !!) timing belts , radiator flush engine flush new oils & filters & auto box oil & filter the only thing i cannot do is code the new injectors to the ECU so it's off to the garage on monday.
Anyroad u wanted to no how to remove the centre console

i removed the passenger seat to access fully the Navigation Unit - 2 off 14 mm nuts front , 2 off 14 mm bolts at the rear.
removed 2 off 10mm bolts from inside the base of the centre armrest , at the forward end are 2 off plastic 'catches' carefully pull these upwards
THE WIRES STAY CONNECTED TO THE 12 VOLT SOCKET & REAR WINDOW SWITCH AT THIS POINT IN TIME !!!
the centre console up to the gear sticks comes away now over the handbrake . remove the wires to remove the console completely.
the next part is not as easy but easy enuff !!!
remove the 2 off 10mm bolts exposed by the removal of the rear console.
down the footwell there is a plastic 'stud' press the centre of this inwards to the tunnel , it will then release the 'stud' remove it with the aid of a terminal screwdriver if needed repeat in the drivers footwell.
screw off the 4wheel drive lo & hi gear knob
remove the small plastic tray thingy in front of both gear knobs. ( I didn't remove the auto shift gear knob )
all the front half of the centre console is now loose remove as you wish, there is no need to go any further.
on my unit there are 3 separate wires
1 with 2 pins
1 with about 12 pins
1 with 1 pin
the 1 with 1 pin is a round approx 3mm or so flexi wire which i traced as far as possible up to the screen. I COULD NOT SEE WHAT WAS AT THE OTHER END OF THIS WIRE.
i presume the square box you mentioned i do not no at this stage.
i took the nav unit out completely whilst i had access.
i found that there was another connection at the rear LEFT HAND side of the rear panel.
this was a round 7 pin skt !!!! NO other wiring was present & all the rest seemed to be all tied together as you would expect.
there was no indication as to what this was
next to it was the power socket
over the other side seemed to be the feed to the head unit ( it went off completely when the socket was removed) multi pin .
& finally the single wire . NO change when it was connected or not.
all cleaned out & replaced But no change still no worky !!!!!
