1  Where is the thermostat on the coolant system? Is it at the bottom of the radiator, if so how can that work? the top hose seems to come directly off the block with no thermostat housing there. What am I missing.
2  Does the fuel stop solenoid only open when engine is turning over or does it open as soon a ignition is switched on?  Should the solenoid be hot to the touch?

The thezrmostat is on the side of the water pump on the left hand side looking from the front. I don't think the fuel relay should be hot but i'm not sure yes it does open as soon as you turn the key.

The fuel stop valve is on the top rear of the injector pump- one wire on the terminal on top.  It looks a bit like a temperature sender.
It is energised to the run (fuel on) position as soon as key is in run or start position. When key is off, the valve is de-energised, stopping the fuel.
